Rocknroll-Goulash Spanning 5 Decades of Music
(Just Like Mick Jagger and Keith Richards)
Curating 5 Decades of Music keeping alive some of the more obscure music and artist in the rock genre. There might be some humor there too!
RocknRoll-Goulash is not a Rock and Roll history site. It is more of a curated exploration of great music and musicians that have sometimes fallen short in general publicity and radio air time during the era of the “Great Super Stars”. In this day and age, with the incredible internet technology available, we can span more than fifty years of songs, artist, music and musical styles. Within this RocknRoll Goulash site, it is my intention to bring a mish-mash (goulash) of music (mostly Rock and Roll) into focus from many different eras. Hopefully, within these pages, you will find some interesting and/or amusing music that you can add to your playlists.

If you are too young to know the music and artist of the 196o’s, this is a good place to explore the beginning of a new era in music. One of many things the 1960s brought us was the advent of “free-form” or “underground FM radio.”Popular Music Genres of the 1960′s were: Garage Rock (pre-punkish) British Invasion Rock, Folk Rock and Motown.
Decade of the 70′s
It was the 1970’s when different genres of rock music emerged. Each of the branches of 70’s Rock had a unique sense of style and sound.
The punk rock genre also emerged in the 1970s. This was a style that continued on the legacy of the 60’s but with a more upbeat and harder style. Heavy guitar riffs and more decibels helped to motivate those who were still upset about the status quo in the country.
Decade of the 1980′s The 1980s saw the emergence of pop, dance music, and New Wave. As the term disco fell out of fashion in the decade’s early years, genres such as post-disco, Italo disco, Euro-disco, and dance-pop became more popular.
Music in the 1980s was all about image and with the advent and popularity of MTV, the images that accompanied artists became more important than ever. When it came to music during the decade, nothing was understated, not the sound, not the fashion, not even the charity.
The music in the 1990s went through a series of changes in regards to the mainstream radio airwaves. Ironically, it was nearly a full-circle of styles and tastes that resulted in recreating the mainstream sound that is strongly reminiscent of popular music in the 1980s. Many of these bands and artists had staying power, though.
Nearly a decade later, we are still being exposed to many of their antics or effects that they had on the musical front. Fortunately, several of these acts have matured in recent years and continue to produce quality music while others with less talent have fallen by the wayside in recent years.
